heath ceramics

Heath Ceramics of Sausalito, California is one of the most well know mid-century American potteries still around to this day. Husband and wife team, Robin Petravic and Catherine Bailey, purchased Heath Ceramics in 2003 and have been working hard ever since to make sure that strong design and Edith Heath's original handcrafted techniques stay the focus of their business. It is this attention to detail and handcrafting that prices Heath Cermanics out of so many remodelers budgets, fortunately they have recently released Modern Basics, an in-stock, more affordable line of tiles. Available in two sizes, 2"x6" and 3'x6", and six different glazes, Heath Ceramics is able to produce larger quantities at one time and therefore pass on the savings to you. Don't worry, if you have the budget and want something a bit more custom, their Field Tile line is made to order, in seventeen sizes and eighty plus glazes.

Oh, what I wouldn't do for a fireplace surround of their creamy white Oval tile from the 1950-1960's Dimensional Collection.

A little something fun for those of you in the San Francisco Bay Area, Zinc Details (2410 California St, San Francisco 94115) is hosting a Heath Ceramics summer seasonal launch on Thursday April 23rd from 6pm to 8pm. Best part of the whole deal is that 10% of the proceeds will go to help support Architecture for Humanity. Looking for details? Call Zinc Details at 415-776-9002. Wish I could be there.
