loving my love birds

A few months ago I posted about my love of white ceramic animals and now I have some new members in my white animal family. I spent the last two weeks back home in San Francisco attending a couple of weddings of some longtime childhood friends (reason for my sparse postings... that and a bad case of bronchitis). Well, I just have to share the the favor I received at one of the weddings. Each guest got an adorable set of white ceramic lovebird salt and pepper shakers. Love 'em!!! They are from Weddingstar but I found them at American Bridal along with their personalized favor cards.

stunning in orange

It's amazing how a color can just take over, especially one that hasn't seemed to have been popular for decades. Yes, I am speaking about orange, a.k.a. pumpkin, persimmon, tangerine, coral and every other name they've come up with. It seems to have been creeping its way back into our clothes, home decor and hearts over the last few years and seems to be going full force as I write this post.

Within the last week I've received at least two emails from home furnishings retailers boasting about their fabulous orange additions to their products lines. First up was the Container Store letting us know that "Orange is What's Hot Now!" and that they have the perfect product to store and show off all your orange items... clear plastic shoe boxes.

The orange doesn't stop there with them. Just type "orange" into their search bar and find 75 matches. They have it all from storage boxes to aluminum flasks to notebooks and even a LifeHammer.

Just this morning I received an update from Room and Board (yup, I'm a fan on Facebook) that their popular Boden chair is making it's orange upholstery debut in a polyester/ cotton velvet blend. Love it. Got to say that out of all the colors, the tangerine really holds its own against the ebony-stained base.

CB2 is another spot where I have been able to get my orange fix lately. Luckily I was able to pick up a Trig file cabinet and Script desk lamp in orange before the color was discontinued (bad move CB2). I do enjoy the Mad desk lamp in orange they have brough in though. Just need to get my hands on one of their orange Swingline business staplers now before they are disco'd.

Like I shared in an earlier post, IKEA's got orange covered as well. Where have you found your favorite orange items?

carrying your cards in style

I try to never leave the house without at least a few of my business cards as you never know when someone will want one. Just this weekend I was at a friend's wedding where I was seated with a bunch of strangers who turned out to be a very creative group. One of these strangers was the wedding photographer and a high school friend of the bride. An accomplished photographer is always a great connection to make in the design field, so I made sure to exchange cards. I soon found that my card itself was not the only thing to catch her eyes, my card case did as well. I have the pleasure of carrying my cards around in the AcmeStudio Eames chair card case. Chair on the business card and chairs on the card case... I think it says "I love furniture."

Thinking about this got me interested in looking for other card cases that make a statement. Here are a few that caught my attention.
